Peace of mind
10-year warranty
When we supply and fit your shutters, you get a clear 10-year warranty designed for peace of mind — covering product quality and careful installation. This page summarises what is included, what we ask of you, the main exceptions, and how to get in touch if something needs looking at. Your written quotation and order paperwork always take precedence for your specific job.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
We want you to enjoy shutters that look right and work properly for years. For a period of 10 years from the date of delivery, shutter products we supply will, with reasonable effort, correspond to the specification in your written quotation and will be:
- Free from material defects in design and material
- Fit for the purpose for which they are commonly bought and designed
- Installed with reasonable skill and care
If you have an issue with build quality, operation, or fitting during that period, we will do everything we reasonably can to put it right.
What do we ask from you?
To keep cover robust, we ask customers to help products stay as intended:
- Tell us as soon as practical if you notice a defect
- Use products only where we recommended them on survey
- Do not make alterations or repairs we have not authorised
For example, non-waterproof shutters should not be left in high moisture or direct water (including rain). On your free home visit we guide you toward the right range — including moisture-resistant Tonga or fully waterproof Java where a wet room needs it.
Exceptions
A small number of items sit outside the full 10-year shutter cover. We flag these before you order so you can choose with clear information.
- Colour fastness — covered for 5 years
- Remote control mechanisms — free from material defects in design and workmanship on delivery and for 1 year thereafter
- Shutter hardware — free from material defects in design and workmanship on delivery and for 1 year thereafter
- Stainless steel hardware — free from material defects in design and workmanship on delivery and for 5 years thereafter
- Portchester security shutters — 5 years for interior fit and 3 years for exterior fit (free from material defects in design and workmanship from delivery)
- Blinds — free from material defects in design and workmanship on delivery and for 2 years thereafter
- Awnings — not under the 10-year shutter warranty; typical cover is 5 years on components and 3 years on cords and fabric, free from material defects in design and workmanship from delivery
Because many shutters use natural materials, colour, grain, and texture can vary. Exact matches to samples or to later orders cannot be guaranteed. Minor grain or substrate visibility only apparent closer than about 2 m, and minor colour imperfections not readily apparent at about 1 m under ordinary light, are treated as natural variation, not defects.
We will not have liability under the warranty if:
- You do not notify us about a defect as soon as practical
- You do not follow our instructions or recommendations — for example, non-waterproof shutters in bathrooms, kitchens, or other high-moisture rooms, or damage from rain, unless the product specified was our waterproof range (such as Java)
- You use products in abnormal or unfavourable conditions, or attempt alterations or repairs we did not authorise
How to make a claim
If you need to discuss your warranty, report an issue, or make a claim, contact ShutterLuxe — the same Yorkshire team that measured and fitted your shutters.
We will explain the next steps. Warranty visits are subject to a £75 call-out charge, fully refundable if the repair or replacement is confirmed as covered by the warranty.
This warranty sits alongside your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law. It does not replace those rights; it adds contractual peace of mind on top.
Warranty FAQs
Does the 10-year warranty cover fitting as well as the product?
Yes. For shutter products we supply and fit, the cover includes material defects in design and material, that the product remains fit for its intended purpose, and that our installation is carried out with reasonable skill and care — for 10 years from delivery, subject to the exceptions on this page.
Is there a call-out charge for a warranty visit?
Warranty visits are subject to a £75 call-out charge. That fee is fully refundable if the repair or replacement is confirmed as covered by the warranty.
Do Antigua, Tonga, or Java shutters have different cover?
Antigua may carry a longer manufacturer guarantee on the product range (often marketed as 20 years or more). Tonga and Java follow the moisture / waterproof guidance we give on your survey. Your written quotation and order paperwork set out the cover that applies to your specific products. This page explains the standard 10-year shutter warranty framework we work to.
