Bay windows are one of the most common reasons homeowners call us — and one of the easiest to get wrong if nobody measures properly. A good survey takes twenty to forty minutes, is free, and leaves you with a clear quote rather than a vague estimate.
What we check before quoting your bay
- Recess depth and width on every section of the bay, including the centre and returns.
- Square or angled? We note how true each opening is — older Yorkshire bays are rarely perfect.
- Handles, vents, and locks that could clash with shutter frames or louvre operation.
- How you open the windows — inward, outward, or fixed — so panels do not block access.
- Room use and privacy — street-facing lounges often need different louvre sizes than rear bedrooms.
Square bay, curved bay, or box bay?
Each layout needs a different manufacturing approach. Square and box bays are straightforward; curved bays need shaped louvres and experienced fitting. We have fitted bays across Leeds, Harrogate, and wider Yorkshire — see our bay window shutters page for style options and recent examples.
What you should have ready
- Rough window count across the house if you are quoting more than the bay.
- Any photos from Pinterest or Instagram showing a finish you like.
- Questions about timelines — most bespoke shutters take a few weeks from order to fit.
Ready for a proper measure? Book your free home visit and we will survey the bay in person — no obligation.
