Five rooms, one consistent finish. In this Garforth home we fitted made-to-measure white plantation shutters in two home offices, a bedroom, the stair landing and the lounge bay, so every window gets the same light and privacy control and the house reads as one scheme from inside and out.

What we fitted
Made-to-measure white plantation shutters in five rooms: two home offices, a bedroom, the stair landing and the lounge bay. Each set was measured to its own window, from a two-pane office casement to a three-pane bedroom window and a lounge bay with top lights. Using the same white finish throughout keeps the house consistent from the street and room to room.
Why this layout works
Home offices: louvres can be tilted to cut glare on monitors without shutting out daylight, which blinds and curtains struggle to do on a working desk. On the taller office window the shutter is split at the transom, so the frame lines up with the glazing bars rather than cutting across them.
Landing: with nothing in front of the window, simple panels sized to the full opening are easy to set once and leave, and they stop the stairwell feeling exposed after dark.
Bedroom and lounge: the curtains stay for softness while the shutters do the everyday light and privacy work. In the bay, the rail follows the top-light line so the shutters sit neatly with the window design.
